  2. I happen to think it's rather stupid to mix motion control with CGI for 
  3. one reason: CONTINUITY.

  5. You have to carefully mix the look of the CGI to match the film, and this 
  6. is a needless burden.

  8. If you have the models, why not just shoot them?

  10. What particular shots would be better done with CGI?

  12. Maybe some of the backgrounds and planets are better done with CGI.

  14. I think a lot of the opening was done with CGI, the move through the 
  15. rings of that Saturnlike planet, etc...

  18. I think it's telling that during the making-of that they didn't even 
  19. mention computer animation.  They spent a great deal of time showing how 
  20. the Voyager model was made with the new window features, and we get at 
  21. best a 2 second clip of someone working with a Voyager wireframe.  It was 
  22. a fullscreen preview wireframe which I couldn't confirm as being Modeler 
  23. (I've never seen fullscreen wireframes in Modeler or Layout).

  25. So they are definitely DOWNPLAYING the CGI element for some reason.
